City of Bluefield Targets Potholes Ahead of Spring

City Manager Dane Rideout launched a proactive effort to fix potholes as spring nears. A public works crew traveled to a North Carolina asphalt plant because local suppliers remain closed until later in March or April. Areas targeted include Bluefield and Princeton avenues Stadium Drive and Cumberland Road. The crew left at 430 in the morning to begin the work.

Mercer County Board of Health nominates Dr Rick Sabol as medical director

The Mercer County Board of Health unanimously recommends Dr Rick Sabol for county medical director following Dr Steven Stefancic's resignation. Administrator Roger Topping says final approval rests with state Health Officer Dr Ayne Amjad, and the vote occurred in an executive session after Stefancic left to focus on family and time demands.
