Budget strains loom for Bluefield as city eyes cuts
Budget talks reveal a significant shortfall with a $200,000 figure only part of the issue. A 13 percent rise in the Public Employees Insurance Agency plan and a 50 percent jump in general liability insurance drive costs. City officials, including Perkinson, say layoffs are possible but not yet decided, with essential services protected. The city must submit a plan to the state by month end while crunching numbers and inviting citizen input at upcoming Board meetings.
