Hearing On Dispatchers Set In Princeton
Princeton Police Civil Service Commission will hear March 31 at the Municipal Building on whether three civilian dispatchers may work without a certified officer present. Lt. M O Thorne says officers object due to a 1968 ruling requiring supervision. Dispatchers Bo Strain Oscar Farley and Charlotte White were hired under a CETA grant. City officials contend the dispatchers free officers for field duties. City Attorney Carr says the hiring is legal but the commission should decide on supervision. either side may appeal to Mercer County Circuit Court. Thorne says officers will be represented by an attorney.
