Three Jailed After Local Numbers Raid

Bluefield police raided a numbers operation at 8045 Bland Street uncovering three men Shan Meadows Case Carter and Jesse Smith arrested for running the game. Officers seized 12.11 in cash small change an adding machine tickets and blank ticket books. They were fined 200 and 60 days in county jail to be served in Princeton.

Two Automobiles Reported Stolen

Bluefield police reported two cars and an auto battery stolen yesterday. A 1948 Ford station wagon owned by George Frehling at Jefferson apartments disappeared between 7 and 7:30 PM, with green fenders and hood and WV plate 29 556. A 1940 black Pontiac sedan owned by Kyle Blankenship of Welch was stolen in Welch and may be en route toward Bluefield on Route 52, WV plate 302 904.

Music Program At Shrine Meeting

A monthly Bluefield Shrine club gathering at the Ma sonic Temple featured Mrs. Elsia Thomas directing a music program after a banquet. The Harmonettes including Dora Little Betty Booth and Mary Ellen Law sang with Garland Bruce on piano. Phyllis Ann Howe performed a toe dance with Cecil Gray on piano.
