Desperate measures in a hopeless six spade slam
In a bridge column a North dealer reports a South declaring six spades after a missing ace is found by Blackwood. With spades 2-2 or 3-1 splits unlikely and the king onside unlikely, the declarer contemplates odds and plays the queen of clubs then queen of spades to force a win. If East covers or not, a repeat finesse could secure the slam.
