New market a gathering spot in recovering N.O.
In New Orleans disaster areas, temporary farm markets in neighborhoods like Lower Ninth Ward and nearby areas provide fresh fruit vegetables meat and seafood. Residents shop and talk about rebuilding while vendors and community leaders expand access and hope to extend operations through August. These mobile markets, coordinated by the French Market Corp, use funds from federal grants to serve residents returning to damaged neighborhoods near landmarks such as Fats Domino's former home.
