McDowell housing development closed after flood aid ends
New Hope Village on Tom's Mountain, opened in 2001 to aid July flood victims, was cleared in early June with 68 units, as residents were moved to Premier Park or other housing. Some displaced residents received relocation assistance while SHED offered permanent housing options elsewhere in McDowell County.
