Injunction Bars Ex-Helms Employee in Bluewell Case

Mercer County Judge William O. Bivens Jr. granted a temporary injunction prohibiting Larry Brady, a former Helms supervisor now tied to Bluewell Home Furnishings, from aiding in the operation of the new Bluewell store. Brady signed a 1974 contract barring furniture competition within five years and within 100 miles of Bluefield, with a permanent injunction likely within 60 days. Brady testified he served as salesman at Bluewell after work, while denying a managerial role, as Helms and associates testified to his prior training and proximity to Helms’ advertising. The Bluewell business, formed by Brady and Rotenberry, shows about $16,000 gross in three weeks, vs Helms’s $1.5 billion in 1980 sales according to Rotenberry.
