Recession Looms As Oil Prices Drive Sluggish Economy
Washington economists warn a recession is almost certain this year amid sluggish growth and higher imported oil prices. Data Resources predicts declines in the final three quarters, with inflation possibly exceeding 10 percent and millions of job losses. Pot Plants Confiscated In Lerona Raid By JIM GILREATH
A morning raid in Lerona yielded about 100 high quality marijuana plants with an estimated street value of 70000 dollars. Deputies plan to charge a Brown's Ridge resident with possession with intent to sell. Plants were found behind a pig pen at an unoccupied house and were taken to the sheriff's office for destruction. The beds appeared freshly manicured and tended, with the crop believed to be a hybrid variety. Deputy Stilwell and Booth first located the beds, followed by Sheriff Kendrick and Capt. Fleming assisting in removal. The raid arose from a tip and the approximate location is near Brown's Ridge Road, about 0.75 miles from State Rt. 20.
