Bluefield could drop from class six to four in fire insurance with city and public utilities cooperation. A four rating would cut base premiums by about 74 percent, saving property owners estimated thousands yearly from current 375000 to 450000 in premiums. A 1940 inspection set deficiencies in water, fire, alarm, and building codes. a new inspection could shift points and ratings.
