Kyle was the first Rotary Ann to register at convention headquarters.

Welch McDowell County violence weekend shocks community
Weekend violence in McDowell County left one man dead in Ashland and several others injured. Jerry Spencer, 25, of Hiawatha, was shot in the chest after an argument and died at once. A woman is held in Northfork jail for the shooting. Police report multiple fights resulted in hospitalizations and 90 arrests at the county jail.

Warren Wilson Pop Rutledge 60 of Welch died Sunday at 1 a.m. in Bluefield hospital from heart ailment after a brief illness stemming from a May skin condition. Born Aug 24 1881 in Kenton Ohio he served as chief storekeeper in the Appalachian Electric Power Company stor age department and was a former Navy yeoman and All-American basketball player. He is survived by his sister Mrs Georgia Henrett of West Hartford Conn and nephew Edwin Rutledge editor of a Kenton Ohio newspaper. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today at Paul Sells home in Princeton with burial in Kenton Ohio.
