Transformers sequel posts record five day box office
The Transformers sequel Revenge of the Fallen hauled in 112 million in its opening weekend and 201.2 million domestic over five days, adding 185.8 million overseas for a 387 million worldwide total. It trails The Dark Knight for five day receipts but leads yearly debuts and could top the year’s domestic charts. Shia LaBeouf and Megan Fox’s romance helps broaden the fan base as females make up 46 percent of the audience. Up remains the domestic 2010 top with 250.2 million, with Star Trek at 246.2 million total, but Transformers is poised to overtake it shortly.
