Veterans group finances BSC Concord scholarships
The Mountain State Regular Veterans Association Post No. 57 donates $10,000 to Bluefield State College and Concord College to fund forty $500 scholarships for the 1998-99 year. Twenty scholarships at each school aid veterans, dependents, widows, and widowers who are U.S. citizens with need and at least a 2.5 GPA.

Ronald Jones, a 1964 Concord graduate and former Athens resident, has been named dean of the College of Fine Arts at the University of South Florida. He previously served as dean at Stephen F. Brad Fields sixth grade student at Glenwood Elementary School has been named the WV Elks Association Essay Contest State Winner for his essay The Flag Protection Amendment-The Right of the People-The Right Thing to Do. He Majors honors include President's Award for Educational Excellence and All-County Band member. He and his parents will attend the Elks State Convention in Weirton in August where he will read his essay and receive a $100 savings bond plus plaque and American flag.
