Boston and New York split doubleheader in 14 innings affair
In Boston, June 28, New York and Boston split a twin bill. Boston won 6 to 5 and New York took the nightcap 5 to 4 in 14 innings amid errors by rival shortstops. Maranville and Rawlings misplayed the ball, and Gonzales scored the deciding run in the 14th after Rawlings’ poor throw. Brooklyn also won both games over Philadelphia 2 to 0 and 6 to 3, with Cadore and Rixey tossing two strong games and Ward debuting at third for Brooklyn.
