Mercer county voters are asked to support J. T. Akers in the county clerk race, pending the Democratic convention or primary. The ad also promotes Foley's Kidney Cure and the J. M. Cigar, sold by G. H. Wade druggist.
Dr. James W. Kidd of Fort Wayne Indiana announces a claimed elixir that cures all ailments and promises long life. The free remedy requires senders to provide name and address, with a bold claim of miracles and historic wisdom revived.
Misleading advertisement attributes a cure all to Dr James William Kidd and his self styled Elixir of Life. It promises free samples by mail and asserts cures across rheumatism neuralgia stomach diseases headaches fevers and many other conditions with no risk to the recipient.
A reader offers a homemade cough syrup using gum arabic flaxseed and sugar steeped in water then thickened. After straining, lemon juice is added and a tablespoonful every half hour is advised until the cough eases.
A luncheon course uses grape juice in a lemon cup with the top cut to form a cover and the meat removed. Juice flavored with lemon is placed inside and recovered through two inserted straws hidden by a ribbon bow. To re enamel a bathtub buy proper enamel and prepare the tub.
A Norton notes that spring fever signals biliousness with torpid liver and inactive bowels. DeWitt’s Little Early Risers are advertised to stimulate the liver, prompt bowel movements, and purify the system. An endorsement from R. M. Everly of Moundsville, W Va backs the claim and a local druggist, John L. Crockett, stocks the pills.
Daniel Banatz of Otterville Iowa says he suffered years with asthma and tried many cures before Foley's Honey and Tar gave immediate relief. He urges others to use it and notes it is sold by G H Wade, druggist.
Creditors of C. C. Bailey deceased must file claims for adjudication with J. Frank Maynard, commissioner, at his Bluefield office in Mercer County by July 24, 1902. Witness W. B. Honaker, clerk, June 6, 1902.
