Raysal woman seeks Internet help over McDowell roads
Tasha Mutter of Raysal says dangerous McDowell County roads lack real solutions. An online petition drew 64 signatures and reached readers in Georgia and North Carolina as she plans a full website to pressure officials. She cites a fatal crash between a passenger truck and a logging truck and urges action from senators, delegates, and Gov. Wise.

Highway officials disappointed in House decision
LUEFIELD The S R 73 74 Corridor Association members lament the House vote extending highway legislation expired last September. Rep Nick Rahall says the extension avoids leaving states short on funds but notes the bill funds are insufficient and blocked by Bush administration veto threats and GOP leadership. He cites 1.9 million private sector jobs lost and 8.2 million seeking work as urgency for infrastructure investment. The House approved the measure 357 to 65, with work continuing on segments near Airport Road and the Ammar Interchange toward Bluefield.
