Richlands festival continues under carnival and games
The Richlands Area Chamber of Commerce Festival runs through Saturday July 1 with the James H. Drew Carnival. Kid day and games are planned today from 10 a.m. to noon, and a 5 to 11 p.m. two-for-one midway ride offer. a beach party was interrupted by a storm but drew about 1,000 attendees. Tobacco lease deadline and acreage reports in Tazewell
TAZEWELL Va July 3 is the deadline to sign 1995 tobacco lease and sales agreements at the FSA office. The county office lists bulletin space for farmers to post notices of quotas to buy sell or lease. July 17 is the acreage reporting deadline. Farmers are urged to file early to avoid a last minute rush. An acreage report is required for farms producing barley tobacco and for owners or operators of those farms. Farmers should also file acreage bases for corn and grain sorghum and file a zero acreage report if not growing any base crops to preserve their base.
