Wagner to Undergo Elbow Surgery Today
Reliever Billy Wagner, who led the National League with 39 saves last season, will undergo left elbow surgery in Los Angeles. The Astros confirmed a second opinion by Dr. Lewis Yocum, who found a partially torn flexor tendon and will repair it and remove scar tissue. Wagner had been troubled by the elbow since last season and was removed from the closer’s role after nine blown saves in 15 chances this season.
