A 24 year veteran railroad fireman he served five years as general chairman of the New York Central Ohio Central Lines Brotherhood of Locomotive Firemen and Engineers. A WWII veteran he belonged to Glenwood Methodist Church Shriners and a thirty second degree Mason.
