Richlands to face 23 percent electric rate hike in July
Richlands Va officials announced a July 1 23 percent rise in electric rates under a new Appalachian Power Company contract. Mayor Ken Wyser said the increase takes effect July but appears on bills later in the month and costs beyond 23 percent will be absorbed by the town. He noted water and sewer costs remain kept down and that poorer residents will bear the heaviest burden while electricity remains relatively cheap locally. The rise follows seven years under Synergy and fuel cost increases driving the new contract.

Judge boosts verdict against Morgan Stanley for Perelman case
