W Hodding Carter retraces Leif Eriksson’s voyage in a 54 foot replica of a square rig Viking ship named Snorri. The 37 year old author sails with 11 crew members from Greenland to Newfoundland facing icebergs and polar bears, while balancing humor and history. Carter recalls prior adventures and plans to involve his family on future journeys, including a possible Alps crossing by elephant.
