Smithsonian turns National Mall into New York City exhibit
Smithsonian Folklife Festival spotlights New York City with a 1.2 million dollars interactive display on the National Mall. New Yorkers explain neighborhoods, subway culture, Broadway rehearsal, graffiti art, finance, fashion and street life through live performances and exhibits. About 300 participants from New York, including traders, artists, and bakers, share phrases of city life as crowds tour 11 am to 5 30 pm daily through July 1 and again July 4 to July 8 with free events all week.
