WV central clearinghouse handles missing children reports
West Virginia now routes all missing child reports through a state police central clearinghouse created by 1997 legislation and linked to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. Effective June 1, the system collects reports from all law enforcement agencies and provides a toll free line 1-800-352-0927. Each year over 2,500 WV children are reported missing, mostly runaways or abductions.
