Fourth Century Peter and Paul Icons Found in Rome Catacomb
Vatican officials unveil the earliest known icons of Peter and Paul on a 4th century ceiling in the Santa Tecla catacomb beneath a Rome office block. The discovery includes John and Andrew, with Christ as the Good Shepherd, all restored using a laser technique. The two year 60,000 euro effort was funded by the Vatican to unveil these ancient depictions of the apostles.
