Welcome Home: Greg Coburn Returns From Iraq Tour
Gregory Coburn, a West Virginia University ROTC graduate and Army reservist, arrived home in Princeton after a long Iraq tour. Family and friends organized a welcome home dinner, inviting locals and even Governor Manchin's staff. Coburn’s extended family and neighbors lined the terminal as the veteran shared a quiet moment with his nine year old nephew. He will spend 20 days in Princeton before reporting to Fort Leavenworth, Kansas, in a tenure noted as “11 years, going on 30” by his father.

Greenville representatives say meetings in Washington showcased photos of the Raleigh County section near Sophia and stressed the need for federal funds to finish the four mile stretch from Sophia to Slabfork Road. They expect contracts later this year but forecast funding gaps due to Iraq and Katrina recovery costs. The 65 mile route from Beckley to Virginia would link with US 58 as it moves through West Virginia and into Virginia.
