Merck warning sends stocks lower on weak outlook
Stocks fell Friday after Merck cut earnings guidance for the second quarter and full year due to weaker Vioxx sales. The Dow dropped 110.84 to 10,604.59, the Nasdaq slipped 23.93 to 2,034.83, and the S&P 500 declined 11.69 to 1,225.35 as health care, manufacturing, and retail names retreated.
