Mercer County magistrate David Pedneau found James E. Sisk Jr. of Sandlick guilty of animal cruelty for neglecting a female Irish Setter on his property. He was fined 50 dollars plus court costs. the defense said an appeal would be filed. Witnesses testified the dog was in very poor condition and tied near the pastor's residence.

Two Hospital Staffers Victims Of Vandalism In Bluefield
Bluefield police hunt for a suspect after two vehicles owned by hospital employees were vandalized in a hospital lot off Russell Street. Vickie Clayton and Janet Damewood, both supervisors at Bluefield Committee Hospital, reported damage including paint and an oil line issue on Clayton’s 1973 car and scratches plus corn popcorn poured in Damewood’s 1977 compact. Police suspect a former hospital employee.
