Dominican tourism deaths blamed on natural causes says minister
Dominican Republic tourism minister Francisco Javier Garcia dismissed eight American tourist deaths this year as normal and natural, not a mysterious wave. Autopsies show natural causes, with three under further toxicology tests by FBI. The minister cited 3.2 million US visitors last year and noted several previous deaths in 2018. The cases include Holmes Day couple in La Romana and Miranda Schaup-Werner, plus other travelers, while officials defend transparency and urge continued tourism.
