Dominion pump storage project in Tazewell slows but moves ahead
Feasibility studies for a roughly 2 billion hydroelectric pump storage facility in Tazewell County are slowed by the pandemic but Dominion Energy stays committed. Eastern District Supervisor Charlie Stacy says the team remains positive though no site work was possible during COVID. Jeremy L. Slayton of Common Energy notes no major update yet, with reports and data under review. The plan envisions two reservoirs on East River Mountain, linked by tunnels over 1,000 feet, supplying power on demand to Dominion's grid. Stacy says the work to assess site suitability remains on track and no detrimental findings have been identified so far.
