Stolen medieval art in bank vault to be inventoried
A federal judge ordered First National Bank of Whitewright to open its vault for an inventory by the East German Lutheran cathedral that claims the stolen medieval artwork. The inspection time will be secret to protect inspectors and artifacts. The cathedral, aided by the Meador family, alleges ownership after the pieces vanished from a Quedlinburg mine shaft in 1945.
