The Roanoke News reports a bright meteor seen east of the city around 4:20 am traveling southward leaving flames and smoke. Witnesses described a loud hissing sound, a bursting after several minutes, and a trailing mist forming an anchor or arrow shape before fading.
The late Fred Barlow was honored at a 1 p.m. service Sunday at his mother Mrs. A Barlow’s home 619 Henry Street Roanoke Virginia. Attendees included the Elks and the Order of Eagles with Rev. T J Shipman of the First Baptist Church officiating. Hymns Blessed be the Tie That Binds Nearer My God to Thee Beulah Land Were sung as the body was moved to Fairview Cemetery amid many floral tributes from Roanoke and Bluefield lodges.
New York June 19. Walter Brown a Brooklyn Rapid Transit Company lineman was electrocuted while handling a power wire on the Brighton Beach Hotel roof. He clung to the live wire as onlookers heard his screams before the body was recovered.
Mrs. W. B. F. White wife of W. B. F. White former Tazewell hotel proprietor collapsed at her Main Street residence Saturday morning suffering heart failure. She showed heart pain earlier and fainting near, but was revived. Only a servant present at the final spell as friends arrived to find her dead.

In Watertown New York on June 19 Mrs Chester Doney aged forty sacrificed her life to save her three year old son who had toppled an oil can and lit it by stepping on a watch The woman suffered severe injuries and died within hours the house was destroyed
