Buchanan County Supervisors approved the 1981 82 fiscal budget totaling around 47.7 million dollars with the county general fund at 7 168 405 05 and the school budget near 21 million The board kept the tax rate at 13 20 and noted large sums in the Coal Haul Road Improvement Fund and School Building Fund.
Rain dominated West Virginia with above normal temperatures except the northwest. Statewide rainfall was above average, southern areas drier. About 70 Bluewell Public Service District water customers protested a proposed 9 percent rate increase tied to funding a five mile pipeline and new facilities to tap Falls Mills dam in Virginia. They questioned cheaper options, including Nemours dam or West Virginia Water Company lines, while PSC staff planned area water-source checks.
