A lightning strike hit Bastian Elementary School in Virginia during a West Virginia Virginian league game with Princeton. Three Princeton players were knocked down by concussion though not seriously hurt as the fireproof building sustained major damage including the furnace room plumbing and kitchen areas. Tazewell County officers sought Mose Dunford's wife Mrs Mose Dunford of Stoney Ridge after she shot him at their home. Mose Dunford, 47, of Big Auger, was taken to Bluefield Sanitarium with two gunshot wounds. Authorities planned to arrest the suspect once the victim’s condition was known.

Pearisburg Teen Hurt In One Car Crash
An eighteen year old Pearisburg youth, Thomas H. Wilkinson, was seriously injured when his father's 1950 Chevrolet crashed into stone entrance columns at Binch Lawn Burial Park.
