Tax Collections Show Conflicting Trends in West Virginia
Charleston report shows sales tax collections of 713190.88 in June, the largest for a non quarter month but below October 1941 peak. April 1941 business yielded 754037.98, while March 1941 was 950036.21 due to quarterly payments. Gasoline tax was the lowest since January 1940 amid rationing and shortages. Beer tax collected 86682.64, up from May 1941 and earlier months.
