In Niagara Falls Ontario on June 15 twelve Austrian laborers known by check numbers perished in shacks at Falls View when a blaze consumed the foreign workers housing used for power development. An additional man woman and child were severely injured. Firefighters found four shacks reduced to ashes with bodies recovered from the ruins. The dead appeared to have succumbed to smoke while attempting to escape.
Reports from Cologne on June 15 describe death and suffering among flood survivors from the river Aare valley. Waters receded rapidly leaving villages wrecked and vehicles buried. Strong currents swept away locomotives and road rollers as communities recount the disaster.

Police still doubt suspects though pursuing Chariton and wife’s possible murder link. They report a man seen in Lucerne the day the trunk with Mrs Chariton's body was found and continue to drag Lake Como for clues.
