Inflation Worries Pull Stocks Lower On Rising Inflation Hopes
Stocks fell sharply as investors priced in higher interest rates after a stronger than expected retail sales report. Dow dropped to 10,334.73 while S&P 500 and Nasdaq slid amid worry that inflation may accelerate and trigger a rate hike by month end. Retail sales rose 1.2 percent in May led by a 2.7 percent rise in autos, with imports and the trade deficit contributing to inflation concerns.
