University treats dogs and cats for cancer in South Bend
Indiana’s only FEMA certified search and rescue dog Krueger, a 6 year old rottweiler of South Bend, faced cancer after a paw sore. Vet Dr Todd Jackson and Cincinnati’s University Medical Center joined a high tech program to save him for future rescues.

The University of Cincinnati created a veterinary cancer program in 1984 using a cobalt-60 machine to treat localized pet tumors. About 500 pets have been referred, roughly half treated, mainly dogs, with an 85.7 percent cure rate using current tech. Treatments cost 1150 dollars for 15 sessions plus exams. boarding is extra.
