Police Search On For Sex Deviate Who Killed Child
DetroIt June 13 The body of 6 year old Mary de Caussin was found slashed and beaten in a wooded suburb southwest of Detroit. Police say the victim appeared to be killed by a sex deviate and a hunt for known sex offenders is underway. Two men were booked for murder as the investigation expands. Mary was a first grade pupil at St Pius Parish School.

At Fort Campbell Kentucky a 214 ton Army truck overturned on a curve spilling into Piney Fork Creek. Fourteen para troopers were killed and nine injured and all victims were enlisted men. McDowell Miner Crushed To Death Near Bradshaw
A 45 year old McDowell County coal miner, William H. Asbury of Bradshaw, was killed while opening a new truck mine two miles southeast of Bradshaw. A rock a ton and four feet thick fell from the roof as he returned to place a second charge. Rescuers spent two and a half hours removing the body. Asbury, son of the late Henry and Cosby Jewell Asbury, leaves a widow and several siblings. The body lies at Fanning Funeral Home in Jaeger with arrangements pending.
