A Santa Fe freight train struck a light truck carrying 17 farm laborers near Vroman six miles from Rocky Ford Colorado. The Associated Press reports results from Summers County Hinton Mount Hope Wellsburg Kenova Weston and Brooke County. Harold B Eagle won Hinton mayoral race 957 to 874. Mount Hope approved a three year tax levy 177 to 82. Wellsburg re-elected Charles McDonald unopposed and Arthur Howarth to fifth term. write in Thomas Boyd received 99 votes before withdrawal. Marion Fuller won Kenova mayor 928 to 791 with council slate wins. Kenova also approved a 425000 bond for street work. Weston turnout produced six Democrats and four Republicans in minor offices. W F E Tinns unopposed for Weston mayor.
A U S Airman Marion M from Benwood West Virginia faces trial in Greece for a fatal traffic accident. Authorities say he caused the death of Stephanos Saravhis a leftist Parliament member on May 31 and seriously injured his wife. The decision followed a conference among Greek officials and the magistrate at the police headquarters.
