Transaminase Blood Test Hailed as Key Heart Attack Aid
Chicago reports that a new blood test measuring the enzyme transaminase could diagnose heart attacks earlier than electrocardiography. Dr. Frank P. Foster of the Lahey Clinic says the test detects myocardial infarction by signs of dying heart muscle. He calls it a major advance alongside cortisone therapies and new sulfa derivatives.

In Virginia the 10th and 11th polio cases of the year were reported. A six year old Isom boy unvaccinated for Salk and a two year old Lynchburg girl among the new cases. Three college students at VMI and UVA also contracted polio. Dept says incidence trails last year's pace with 26 cases then.
