Princeton to seek bids for railroad museum project
Princeton city officials said bids for the Princeton Mercer County Railroad Museum will open within days with about 1.4 million dollars in construction funding. City Manager Doug Freeman reported to the council that ads will run locally and bidders will have roughly 30 days to submit proposals. The project gains support from the Hunnicutt Foundation which is donating railroad artifacts and a separate grant funded by Ken Coleman’s family. Freeman foresees completion before snow flies and anticipates a full year before the museum is open. Additional community support includes retired railroad executives offering help and a plan to accurately model the Virginian Railway yards. The Knob park playground work has also received funding approval, with Ward III improvements planned for summer completion.
