Local surgeon touts arthritis relief via new hip knee implants
Mercer County surgeon Walid Azzo described advances in hip and knee replacements designed to ease osteoarthritis. New cobalt chromium implants with flexible polymer and mesh surfaces aim to reduce stress shielding, improve bone integration, and extend implant life while minimally invasive techniques shorten hospital stays and recovery. He highlighted a two-incision hip approach allowing discharge within 24 hours and noted the Nex Gen HiFlex knee enabling deeper knee bending up to 155 degrees.
