Virginia Supreme Court Upholds Drunk Driving Conviction
Virginia's Supreme Court ruling 5-1 affirms the conviction of John James Holt of Richmond for driving while intoxicated. The majority finds the arresting officers violated due process by delaying bail, but deems the verdict valid given the evidence. Justice Spratley dissents, arguing illegal detention tainted the conviction. The court also postpones rulings on Mosque Auditorium seating and Prince Edward County school closures.
