Kimer Etter, 1 year old son of Allen Etter of Baton, six miles east of Tazewell, was bitten by a dog possibly exposed to rabies while passing Jeasee Bourne's home. The dog fled into the woods and was killed by Etter's father with a shotgun as it attacked again. The head was sent to the state veterinarian in Richmond for test. Nearby mad dog incidents rise in the county. cattle losses and a horse chewed its own flesh in McDowell county. A separate incident reports Garfield Puckett seriously burned by kerosene and gasoline while attempting to cremate a turtle with boys, causing potential disfigurement.

One of the best trained men at recent Bluefield Institute commencement is Cecil Roger Hall of Mount Hope who earned a bachelor of science in business administration. Hall ran the cooperative student store for four years and helped pay dividends to stockholders. He served as secretary to department heads and led the Pyramid Honor society and Bluefieldian editor in chief. Edward Littlejohn of Bluefield returns to Sanatorium Demarsan after a year at home, with family and choir regretting his departure.

J A Robertson and son Troy Robertson of Bluff Mountain near Egerla Mercer county were arrested on moonshining charges. A 50 gallon still was found blasting with 18 gallons of moonshine and 300 gallons of mash ready. Three others fled as officers closed in at nightfall.
