Virginia studies consider raising speed limits to 70
Virginia's Department of Transportation is studying raising interstate speed limits from 65 to 70 on I 77 and I 81. Phase I analyzes speed data, road design, lanes, crash history, and traffic flow, with changes possibly rolling out gradually if funding and safety are assured. Senator Puckett supports safe testing, noting many states allow higher limits.

City bids sought for Bluefield Scott Street Parking Garage demo
Bluefield board voted to authorize City Manager to seek demolition bids for the Scott Street Parking Garage to compare demolition costs with renovations. The move does not commit to demolition, with officials arguing bids help determine whether to replace the 1947 structure with an outdoor park and three tiered amphitheater, plus a new parking lot. The panel also discussed Pine Street closure and potential BAT offices relocation to a new headquarters site amid historic landmark concerns.
