GOP nixes a Challenge for Boucher

In Wytheville Virginia delegates rejected nominating former radio minister Charles D Counts in the 9th District race against Democrat Rick Boucher delaying a GOP challenge. Counts, 76, had sought the seat multiple times with weak recognition and insufficient party support cited as reasons for the decision. The vote totaled 158.84 to 93.59 against Counts with a motion to further study the option failing. The June 15 filing deadline looms as the party offices consider future efforts.
