Record Budget Is Approved by Buchanan County Board
Buchanan County adopts a record 13 million dollar fiscal year budget with no major changes from prior figures. The 8.8 million school budget was approved after trimming 425 thousand, preserving a 600 dollar salary increase for teachers, raising starting pay to 7,500. The hospitalization benefit remains at 75 percent with a small accompanying raise. Work on the budget began in February with multiple meetings in the past month, and only minor adjustments were made before adoption.
