Mercer County Board of Education approved 170 probationary contracts and 44 continuing contracts at itsPrinceton meeting. Resignations were accepted from four teachers. three transfers and several unassigned teachers were placed, with new hires and a leave and reassignment approved. Continuing contracts were issued for 44 teachers and 49 number three probationary contracts granted to multiple staff members.

The office would operate 7 30 AM to 12 Midnight Monday through Saturday and 9 AM to 10 PM Sunday. If approved 24 hour service would extend from Charleston with no extra cost to Bluefield residents.
