Fewer WV families receive subsidized child care
Charleston AP reports a Southern Institute study shows West Virginia subsidy recipients fell from 11 425 in September 2001 to 9 572 last September while children served dropped from 19 058 to 15 963. Officials tie declines to TANF funding cuts and a $160 million surplus the Wise administration inherited. They say $42 million must be cut to balance the program.
