Whitewater probe widens to Clinton link in Hale case
Prosecutors use Hale as a starting point for major indictments after securing a three count indictment against Arkansas Governor Tucker. They have pressed Hale’s allegations about President Clinton to a Grand Jury in Arkansas as part of the Whitewater inquiry. Hale, who pleaded guilty to misuse of an SBA backed loan, maintains Clinton pressured him in 1986 to aid a $300,000 loan to a Whitewater related firm. Clinton aides dispute the linkage. Rep. Leach notes the Tucker indictment heightens the inquiry’s seriousness.

WV last in turnout for 94 election
Washington AP West Virginia ranked last in adult turnout in the November 1994 election with 33.9 percent voting, far below the 44.6 percent national average. Deputy Secretary of State Mary Ratliff cites weak contested races and a small state election as factors. Higher turnout occurred among higher income groups, while overall turnout fell from prior off year elections.
